good power for 10 psi!

Because it's not 10psi pressure - it's 24.7psi pressure. Boost is 'pressure additional to atmospheric'.

10psi boost? why do they call it boost? why not say 10 psi pressure? The opposite of vacum is pressure, not boost.....but never-the-less thats some good power for 10 psi!

Gotta be something wrong there! IIRC the only mods you're running right now
are filter, exhaust, and intercooler, yes? There's no way that you could
actually be producing 237kw at the wheels at less than stock boost with
those mods. Stock power should be around 160kw at the wheels, and there's no
way that you can gain nearly 80kw that easily!

Have I missed something that you've done to the engine, or is this with the
K26's strapped on?

BTW, Stu-W's stock+exhaust+filter JZ did 155kw on Torque Performance's dyno
at the first dyno day we ran.

IIRC?? What does that mean?
So there's no explaination for that kind of power?
He also has bigger injectors, fuel pressure regulator, and a
few little top secret things (T88 etc etc hahah no no just
kidding)

Well the statement is fact. Whether or not there is definitive wording for

What, that the intake pressure at 10psi of boost is a total of around 24.7psi?
since standard air pressure is 14.7psi (nominally...)
add 10psi of boost
and you get 24.7psi of pressure.

A measure of vacuum, as used in this context, is the pressure difference below
atmospheric, but pressure is not the opposite of vacuum.

boost is a reasonably correct usage here, 10psi.
either that or absolute pressure, 24.7psi.

make sense?

Jesus Hunt! I thought you worked with the Net for a living!?

IIRC = If I Remember Correctly.

> So there's no explaination for that kind of power?

There is actually - if the car wasn't strapped properly it'll ride up onto
the front roller only and give artificially high readings. Knowing how
Shore Perf run their dyno it wouldn't surprise me in the least if this
happened.

> He also has bigger injectors, fuel pressure regulator

...which at 10psi would actually reduce the power that the engine produces.
Remember, stuffing more fuel in does not automatically equate to more power.

Taking from that you dont know what absolute and gauge mean either?

Yeah seems abit for a near stock 1JZ.

My mate Stenno got around that with a 2JZ with Intercooler, exhaust and
0.9bar in his A70 though the getrag.

I'm hoping I break 200 with my shita.

Ok well asking something like that was rather amusing, I do realise that
atmospheric pressure at sea level is 14.7psi therefor with another 10psi of
pressure added on we get 24.7. I get what everyone is saying. and already
knew it all, just wondering why it is called boost. Is it something the car
world has made up? Is there a really long winded tech term for it and boost
is just easier to say or is BOOST the tech term?

No, actually it was something the aircraft industry came up with back slightly
prior to WW-II. Turbocharging aircraft engines was quite common then. In
fact the worlds first commercial intercooler arrived on the Boeing B17
bomber...
