Not much, $2200 - $2500 or so?

Historically not a well appreciated model. Often thrashed and poorly
maintained.

Wow!! thats a big call..

The dog and lemon guide says that the MK3 supras are well thrashed and poorly maintained. i dont think that is a completely true statement. many of you would agree that we look after our MK3s and dont thrash them as much as we would like to!!

as for the car, its not a GT-four is it??

Not really. Look at the typical state of ST182 Celicas and the people
driving them. They are a budget car and get budget maintenance.

> The dog and lemon guide

Is absolute crap. The guy drives a crappy old Morris for pete's sake... It
is far to opinionated with dodgy/ficticious maintenance problems.

> as for the car, its not a GT-four is it??

He said 1990 Celica GT. If a 1990 GT-Four I'd say price anywhere from $4000
- $7000.

And you would consider that 'publication' to be valuable for something other
than toilet paper?
Their main problems with the Mk.3 were (last time I looked) that it should
have airbags, because it was too fast, and it was dangerous because it was
rear wheel drive.

It is, as far as I can tell, a publication used to push a bunch of highly
outdated safety and "sensibility" theories. For example, that airbags are a
replacement for structural strength, and that rear wheel drive is dangerous.

I think what you will find that Richard is referring to the fact that those
celicas seemed to have, on average, attracted a group of owners who did not
maintain them well and tend to have a lot of problems - I've known 4 people
so far who have purchased them second hand - ALL have had serious problem
with them.

Of course, I don't recommend supras to people who what a reliable and cheap to
run car either.

Regards,
Stuart.

Well this one was definitley not maintained!!! the engine doesnt run..... however there is an engine from japan with 72,000 k's on it which should run.... ok, so not much... really only for those people who apreciate the body shape and are willing to buy it and take a risk for what the rest of the body is like? thanks :)

the reason is, my friends got a 91 model, very nice... but his mum likes it too, so I thought it would be a cheap way to get them a supra with low mileage.... the chassi has done 280,000 k's!!! holy #$%^ how do celica chassi's that age hold up?
