mkiv brake calipers and rotors   2004-05-12 22:04:00 <ronniekumar>
I am thinking of putting mkiv rotors and calipers on my mk3 supra.I think the 1995+ front rotors were 325mm diameter with 4 pot calipers .Not sure about the rear brakes.Did the rear have 4 or 2 pot calipers?.
Does any-one know where I can get the mkiv brakes apart from Toyota.
Thanks,
Ronnie.

[sconz] mkiv brake calipers and rotorsAt this point there's no easy way to bolt Mk-IV front calipers onto the Mk-III. I know a guy in the US who can provide kits for installing stock Mk-IV rear calipers onto the Mk-III - $US100 for the kit.

Cheers
Cully

Also remember that there are 2 VERY different sets of Mk.4 brakes...
The larger US and later japan spec turbo brakes, and the more normal ones.
The big ones won't fit under 'normal' 16" rims.

Stuart.

I am after later model turbo rotors which are bigger.

Cool :)
They may be a challenge to fit though, they only go under the US 'special' 17"
rims from memory. I know they don't fit under the stock Mk.4 16" rims.

I found some toyota hilux 4 pot calipers at $145-00 + gst each.Is the reasonable or too expensive?.
Is the hilux calipers pad area as big as mkiv supra calipers.

Have you compared the mounts to the supra caliper? (I assume you have actually
seen the calipers?)

You will need to compare the mounting positions and offset, the pad area, and
the 'hydraulic' area (ie: total piston area) to compare.

BTW, I assume you saw the diff post by hunt just before? your diff is an
LSD :)

Stuart.
