Stock 7M?

WTF - I think we've covered this already - its not stock. To me stock is how
it came from factory - I can name at least half a dozen items not stock on
suze's car!!!

Never-the-less that is VERY impressive Suze!! Well done indeed!!

Cheers

re: redyno'd ;)   2004-10-06 21:17:00 <Stuart Woolford>
Whomever told you to do a static retard and change the fuel pump is, well, retarded.
How the hell could anyone hear 'slight knocking' at 6500rpm? For a start, the supra ECU stops the car from knocking at all as it will retard out of the knock WAY before any human could hear the knocking, secondly youwould need massive detonation at 6500RPM to actually hear it, not slight knocking.

I would suggest that something else was making a banging sound, not at all unusual in such situations.

As for the 'fixes'.. you are not making even close to enough power to need a new fuel pump, and a static retard is the kind of solution people used back in the 50s.. perhaps they should get with the 80s and trust the ECU. All a static retard will do is cost you power everywhere in the rev range, lower your fuel economy, and increase lag.

If you have a large detonation problem, then something is wrong. If you want to know what, get someone with a clue to do a proper dyno run with a 3 gas analyser (NOT an oxy sensor..) up the tailpipe. This will tell you your real mixture.

Oh, and change your fuel filter if you never had, that COULD be a problem.

Regards,
Stuart W.

hmmm interesting... i was kinda thinking that but if that's what they
say then well.. i believed them... torque performance did my dyno
i was thinking that they may have mistaken detonation for maybe a
really minor misfire with my plugs.. am thinking of changing them as
i'm using iridiums
see the thing i don't get is that my fuel is a constant 11:7 all the
way so if i've got fuel how can i detonate
what can the stock 7m fuel pump flow and what hp can it work up to?

Fuel Economy???? what's that LOL

so do you know anyone with a 3 gas analyser i could go to?

and i changed my fuel filter when i did the rebuild :)
and i haven't retarded my timing i have left it at stock... i have
changed the fuel pump tho to a bosche 014

i now have encountered a couple of problems tho :(
while driving if i try to accelerate my a/f ratio gauge leans right
off and power drops like no ones business but if i go back to cruising
i get enough fuel... i was driving fine like 20mins before that.. i
started noticing surging and the gauge leaning when trying to
accelerate... i limped her home scared i might do damage and am
currently thinking thru scenarios on what to check

now before i put the fuel pump in.. i started getting really horrid
starting problems... it would crank crank crank crank crank crank then
finally fire... did get ign signal fault code so i'm buying one of
those plugs from repco and doing a rewire on the cps
now she still crank crank crank crank but when she fires it's like
she's only firing like 4 cyl's.. the back two are really really lumpy
like possibly those injectors are working properly

so i'm going to rewire the cps, check the injectors (can i check them
with a volt meter to ensure they're working?) they got flow tested
about 8mths ago i think by alltech and all were flowing the same but
can they degrade? also will drop tank again and check the fuel pump...
should i check fuel pressure on crank? what should the fuel pressure
be?

thanks for your input Stuart much appreciated :)
