1jz gte and injectors.   2004-10-12 16:11:00 <Stuart>

Well, here is an interesting bit of info.

I'm in the middle of developing a digital injector monitor for supras (well,
probably most fuel injected engines) and have been running a model on my
jza70 for the last couple of days.

It would appear that with my currently stock setup, it is not too hard at high
RPM to push my injector duration to over 95%. I can see why the 1jz will eat
turbos when the boost is wound up, it is probably starting to run lean and
the EGTs will be high. 380cc is very small for a turbo injector, after all.

Interesting bit of info, really.

Regards,
Stuart W.

Perhaps I might just highlight for those who were assuming otherwise: "stock
setup" also includes *stock boost* in this particular case.

Most interesting.

Especially interesting when the equivalent generation Celica (ST185) was
running 430cc for a 225bhp 4 cylinder...

Maybe they figured that what with the supra being a luxo-barge that they
would never get above 2500rpm cruising anyway?

What is interesting, that on dyno runs with my JZA70 with boost at 15 psi, my
AFR was 10.
You would expect that the injector duty is therefore completely maxed out, but
it was not leaning out, only by adjusting the FCD could I bring the afr to 11.

Stuart how have you verified your meter accurate?

Regards,
Marc
